MCWG’s Fort Lauderdale office, opened in 2007, provides legal services to clients throughout the state of Florida. Our Florida attorneys have extensive experience litigating first-party and third-party insurance coverage matters in the Florida state and federal courts. This work involves prosecution of declaratory judgment actions, as well as defense of our insurance clients against claims implicating all-risk commercial property policies, DIC (difference in conditions) policies, builder’s risk policies, and CGL (commercial general liability) policies. The causes of loss and underlying claims giving rise to our Florida litigation work are varied, involving hurricanes/windstorms, fire/arson, water releases and intrusion, theft and vandalism, sinkholes, construction defects, catastrophic building collapses (such as the Surfside Condominium Collapse), and negligent security.

MCWG’s Florida attorneys also serve our insurance clients in an advisory capacity, analyzing coverage questions raised by first-party and third-party claims and counseling clients on how to protect themselves from improper and excessive claims. Our Florida attorneys also advise clients regarding bad faith avoidance strategies, respond to Civil Remedy Notices of Insurer Violations (CRNs) filed by insureds with the Florida Department of Financial Services, and represent insurers in appraisal and mediation proceedings.

Finally, MCWG’s experience in defending attorneys and other professionals in both court and in the administrate realms spans decades. This includes class action defense work under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, the Florida Consumer Collection Practices Act, and the Telephone Consumer Protection Act.
