Parker, John F.

John F. Parker has over twenty years of experience in all aspects of civil litigation, including Tort, General Commercial, and Insurance. Mr. Parker has extensive Toxic Tort and Long-Term Exposure Defense experience, including chemical exposures, repetitive stress injury, lead paint poisoning, mold, asbestos, benzene, and beryllium. Additionally, Mr. Parker has litigated civil and administrative environmental matters in various parts of the country, including cost recovery actions, citizen suits, and enforcement proceedings - site contaminations, spills, remediation, USTs, PCBs, and MTBE. Mr. Parker has been involved in defending the interests of product manufacturers throughout the country regarding issues of liability and damages at all stages. This area of litigation includes Labor Law and Construction Defect Claims for owners, general contractors, subcontractors, and design professionals.
Mr. Parker has acted as coordinating counsel for various computer, tool, and electronic manufacturers on a regional and national basis. His work for these clients extends into the business/commercial litigation field where he has defended and/or prosecuted matters pertaining to sales, leasing and franchising, and cargo recovery. Mr. Parker's practice also includes work in the pharmaceutical arena, involving medical device/pharmaceutical products. Underlying much of Mr. Parker's practice, he has analyzed insurance coverage issues and handled insurance coverage litigation in the metropolitan area. Mr. Parker's articles have appeared in the New York Law Journal, National Law Journal and various trade publications. He is admitted to the New York and New Jersey Bars and is a member of the Defense Research Institute and the Professional Liability Underwriting Society.
- Mr. Parker assists major pharmaceutical companies in a wide variety of disputes involving asset purchase agreements and joint-development agreements, as well as issues involving the interpretation of FDA regulatory provisions; also assists in due diligence investigations for pharmaceutical transactions, and handles product liability litigation in this arena;
- Mr. Parker has acted as counsel for an international engineering and environmental consulting organization facing multi-million dollar exposure due to a building collapse;
- Mr. Parker has acted as national coordinating counsel responsible for the strategy and oversight of hundreds of matters throughout the country concerning mass tort, product liability and environmental claims, as well as related coverage issues;
- Mr. Parker represents a large local construction entity with city-wide contracts routinely facing a high volume of labor law and premise liability exposure;
- Mr. Parker represents a foreign-based high profile hotel organization with potential exposure allegedly due to the negligence and/or inadequate safety procedures implemented by its personnel. Mr. Parker also spearheaded the post-accident investigation and has worked in conjunction with local, state, and federal authorities;
- Mr. Parker represented a Fortune 500 Company whose subsidiary designed and manufactured the USTs, piping and leak detection system under a large commercial shopping center. It was alleged that this entity was responsible for damage to the environment, real property, and surrounding community due to a petroleum discharge;
- Mr. Parker has represented numerous property owners/managers, product manufacturers/distributors and remediation companies in actions concerning lead exposure to children, adults, and surrounding neighborhoods.
- Coordination assistance to insurers in training trial counsel on organization and cost containment for mass tort matters.
- Coordination of product litigation on behalf of a heavy machinery manufacturer on a regional basis, including: evaluation of exposure risks concerning numerous products; analysis of product labeling, packaging, warnings, and instruction materials; preparation and development of witnesses; supervision of local counsel with emphasis on trial strategy and settlement evaluation.
- Represents numerous product manufacturers faced with potential liability based on worker asbestos exposure in NYCAL, upstate New York and New Jersey; also represent rail car producer in a take-home asbestos exposure claim of a family member.
- Act as counsel for component provider of an allegedly defective boiler which purportedly caused a carbon monoxide leak resulting in the wrongful deaths of three individuals.
- Mr. Parker provides entertainment consulting with respect to event contracts, artists contracts, promotional agreements, and publication rights.
