Leading Law Firm Announces Formation of Mediation Practice

Mound Cotton Wollan & Greengrass announced the formation of its Reinsurance Mediation Group in 2000. To complement the group, the firm published a 5-page Rules and Procedure Manual which applies to all mediations they conduct and is designed to insure the most expeditious determination of parties' disputes.

A copy of the Mound Cotton Wollan & Greengrass Reinsurance Mediation Rules and Procedure Manual can be obtained by clicking at the underscoring.  While there has been much in the way of criticism of the arbitration process, the firm continues to believe that in most instances private, confidential arbitration is preferable to drawn out and expensive litigation in the courts. Nonetheless, there are often situations where the process of arbitration itself has become too costly and companies with  disputes over reinsurance issues find themselves reluctant to resort to  its use. In some instances, consideration of the amount in controversy, the nature of the issues, or the relationships between the parties militate in favor of a less confrontational mediation process.

Mound, Cotton Wollan & Greengrass is one of the oldest insurance law firms in the United States with extensive experience and a substantial practice in the fields of reinsurance litigation and arbitration. Founded in 1933, it is based at One Battery Park Plaza, NYC, (212) 804-4200 with a total of approximately 100 lawyers and additional offices in San Francisco, Newark, and Garden City.
